Strategic Business Development will be conducted differently in the coming years as companies begin to ascend from the “Post Great Recession” environment. Rethinking strategy and how to effectively compete in this new business environment will make the difference in how successful firms remain relevant, competitive and profitable. Many small and mid-size companies will be in position to take advantage of existing market growth as well as new market opportunities. However, new ways of operating will be required such as online marketing concepts and more lean processes to ensure customers are serviced in an efficient and cost effective manner. BSI Institute has a series of facilitated training offerings which can be used independently or as a suite of training modules to leverage their collective strengths for a broader, more comprehensive strategic planning outcome.

The BSI Strategy Workshop: A course designed to provide exceptional training and direction in developing innovative processes that position a company to discover and capitalize on new opportunities. In addition, these new strategies will assist a company in better understanding customer motivations and expectations. Lastly, companies will learn how to evaluate and ensure all processes are operating at peak efficiency to maximize customer satisfaction and value delivery.

Goal Alignment: A business strategy can only be effectively implemented if it is well communicated throughout the company. This course is designed to work interactively with senior management to ensure there is a well stated mission (no comma) with high level business objectives to support the mission. With these goals in place a process is introduced to ensure each functional area within the company has high level objectives and work plans that align with and support the corporate objectives. In addition, metrics are established to create benchmarks and enable measurement against the objectives for building a continuous improvement program.

Performance Measures: This session is designed to work in conjunction with the Goal Alignment course. It can also stand alone if aligned goals are already in place. In either case, this course will assist in establishing metrics across all levels of the organization. Additionally, the course is designed to create an effective dashboard reporting process that provides senior management with the ability to understand where all functions stand in meeting their objectives.

Product Planning Process: Engineering resources are seldom sufficient to design all potential products in the idea pipeline to satisfy customer requests or expectations. This course will provide the processes and tools required to ensure engineering resources are effectively utilized in identifying and developing the most critical and profitable products – as well as accelerating their delivery to market. The processes introduced will result in getting more products to the market and on the shelf quicker and more cost-effectively through new product planning processes that align and prioritize products to best support company objectives and customer needs.
